TMS Side Effects

Common side effects (Mild to Moderate)

  • Headache
  • Scalp discomfort at the site of stimulation
  • Tingling, spasms or twitching of facial muscles
  • Light-headedness

Uncommon side effects (very rare)

  • Seizures(1:30,000 sessions); patients are screened for risk factors prior to treatment.
  • Mania, particularly in people with bipolar disorder
  • Hearing loss if there is inadequate ear protection during treatment
